Moving Photographs

DSLRs (Digital Single Lens Reflex) cameras are taking the world of TV and video by storm. What used to be a camera for a Professional stills photographer, is now incorporating the ability to record HD (High Definition) video.
With the footage achieving the look and feel of high end film, it is no wonder there is an array of extensions to turn the still cameras into full HD rigs, which would not look out of place on a film set. The use of interchangeable lens and filters is also a plus to giving your video it’s own personality before it hits post production. For example, the use of a tilt-shift lens which allows for selective focus and used from above in the right way, can create the appearance of a miniature model. This technique was used recently in the BBC take on a modern day Sherlock Holmes.

Recently at iceni we used a Canon 5D MkII and a selection of lens around the UK to film a mix of interviews with Everest customers in a case study of how happy they were with the service and living with the products. The camera produces rich beautiful images and still allows the portability of the camera in tight spaces, a film camera wouldn’t be able to get into. For this reason and the shallow depth of field, US television series ‘House’ used three Canon 5D MkII’s in their season finale.

Web Broadcasting

iceni produced a short animation for The Royal College of Nursing to help promote their new UK-wide campaign, Frontline First.
The message is to empower nursing staff to speak out against the NHS cuts harming patient care, expose where they see waste in the system and champion nurse-led innovations and ideas that are saving money whilst keeping patients safe.
The animation has been broadcasted on several websites such as the ‘Frontline First’ campaign site, YouTube and the BBC News Online website. The video is said to be a success with over 1000 views within the first week? The characters created in-house featuring in the animation also made their way onto the campaign site as well as a downloadable screensaver.
The animation was also accompanied with some green screen filming to have a hand interact with the animated characters.

2010 New York Festivals – Double Nomination!

2010 New York Festivals – Double Nomination!
We are delighted to announce that our films for Birmingham City Council and Kleeneze are shortlisted at the New York Film and Television Festival.
Entering these awards isn’t just to fill an empty wall at the office, or a trophy cabinet, we measure our work with the best in the business and entering top awards means the quality of our work stands up to peer review. The award schemes we choose are tough: you don’t even get a mention if you can’t show you’ve achieved real, measurable business results for customers.
Our film work has been included in the New York Fesitvals since we first entered in 2007, and we’re the only UK company outside London to have consistently taken home awards every year for the last 4 years. That’s something we’re very proud of.
The New York Festivals is one of the world’s largest international competitions dedicated to both the TV and film industries and showcases the “The World’s Best Work”. Now entering its 53rd year, and with entries from over 30 different countries it’s one of the most well known and widely respected competitions on the globe.
Our promotional film ‘The Adventure Starts Here’ has been short listed in the Corporate Productions / Internal Comms category. Shot by an Emmy award-winning crew, the film raises excitement, motivates sales teams and promotes Kleeneze’s 2010 Conference event in Cape Town.
‘Making a Difference for Children in Care’, a short film exploring the challenges looked after children face, and the agencies that are there to help them, is one of only three finalists from the UK in the ‘Instruction & Education’ category.
The results are announced in early April so we’re all keeping our fingers and toes crossed…watch this space.

iceni Delivers 12th International Award for Kleeneze

DSA Approved Supplier iceni has delivered a 12th creative award for DSA member Kleeneze.
The latest award is for The Adventure Starts Here, a promotional film, shot by Emmy award-winning crew, to launch Kleeneze’s 2010 Conference event in Cape Town South Africa.
This award at the Communicators in Business Northern Awards follows last years success, where Kleeneze’s Caribbean Conference film, The Ultimate Destination, won video of the year. The judges commented on its “…excellent script and high production values…” and awarded it the top prize for being “extremely successful as a motivational tool.”
Since 1999, iceni’s creative team have been delivering film and video for Kleeneze and this is the 12th international award iceni’s promotional, recruitment, incentive, event and training programmes have received. The creative work has been recognised at the New York Film and Video Festival, the US International Film and Video Awards, and the International Visual Communications Association Awards.
Cathy Bentley, Director at iceni said, “We approach every commission by looking at how we can add the most value to the project. We create high quality TV programmes for business, because that’s what makes audiences engage, and we can deliver this quality within budgets that other agencies struggle to achieve.
An industry award is an endorsement of the quality and effectiveness of a creative approach, and it promotes the Kleeneze brand on a world stage.”
Jamie Stewart, Managing Director at Kleeneze said that iceni “delivers real value for us, value that we can actually measure.”
