HTML5 is coming… / The online video Revolution

HTML5 player

If you want to watch a video online, you need to have some software installed on your machine. A real pain if you’re behind a corporate firewall. But things are changing. Boffins from Google and Apple have been working to produce something called HTML5.

HTML5 means your video is part of your website, not sat in its own player. If your audience can see your website, they can watch your video.

HTML is the code behind every web site and with HTML5 means you can:

  • Stream HD video straight to your audience in an email.
  • Get your video seen through any corporate firewall.
  • Show your video on iPhones. The 6.4 million iPhone users in the US are currently unable to view flash video.

Some of the biggest video websites, Youtube, Vimeo and Daily Motion, are testing HTML5, so it has the backing to be universally adopted.

Just update your browser and see the example below.

Panasonic Makes 3D Film & Video for Business Easier

3d-camera

I would like to introduce you to the Panasonic AG-3DA1. It is the world’s first professional, fully-integrated Full HD 3D camcorder.

Just imagine the impact your next viral video could have shot in 3D. Or what about a Product Launch where the product leaps out at your audience. In a crowded marketplace, it’s definitely a way to make your message stand out.

Here at iceni, we are really excited about the possibilities of 3D video in business communications, and this smart camera looks set to bring the costs right down. Unlike cumbersome Mirror Rig or Side-by-Side camera set ups that take time to configure, this lovely piece of equipment is much less bulky, lighter in weight, smaller in size and provides flexible handheld-style shooting right out of the camera bag.

We can’t wait to get our hands on one – are you listening Rob at Panasonic?

If you’d like to have a chat about the possibilities of 3D film and video for your next project, give us a call on 0845 680 99 10.

CheesE4 Sting

cheesE4

With the deadline a couple of days away, I stumbled across the E4 competition to create a 10 second ident for the E4 channel and thought I would give it a go.

As I have been playing around with time lapse photography and having seen the use of stop motion in previous E4 idents, I thought it could be a good way to adapt my sting.

I went through several composition ideas and tests to end up with my final animation, which was then edited, graded and put up on to the E4 site.

The entry can be seen here

Wimbledon Semi-Finals Day

Wimbledon
3am start on the Friday morning to stand in line for the Wimbledon semi-finals and avoid the rush to see Andy Murray play.

Made it to SW19 in good time, but still dreading the queue. However, we got to the back of the line to be handed our queue number of 277th leaving us gutted that we could have had a later start.

The weather held out and we managed to get onto Centre Court to watch both the Federer vs Haas game and Murray vs Roddick.

The day also gave me the chance to try out my new Canon 450D DSLR camera and was pleasantly surprised with the results from the standard 18-55mm kit lens and joys of shooting in RAW. The rest of the weekend was spent playing around with time-lapse and light writing photography and next weekend looks set to fit in some HDR tests.

75th VSCC’s Anniversary

Oulton Park

It’s Gaz again, for two blogs in a row.

As well as cycling, I’m interested in vintage sports cars, and 2009 celebrates 75 years of the Vintage Sports-Car Club with the ‘Hawthorn Memorial Trophies Meeting’ at Oulton Park last weekend.

I arrived in the morning which allowed attendees access to the paddock to view the cars including some nice pre-war examples up to modern day machines followed by some vintage car racing in the afternoon.

Charity Cycle

kathbike

Hi there. It’s Gaz in the Post Production team again…

First of my charity bike rides down and even managed to reap a place in the Stafford Express & Star newspaper. The good weather, my bike and I turned up bright and early to start the event, setting off from Katharine House Hospice in Stafford.

The 25 mile route took us through the countryside of Staffordshire in a time of 2 hours, which wasn’t helped with the detour to stock up on sun cream during the ride.

The event is set to be a success with its biggest turn out as of yet and has thought to have helped raise over £17,500 for Katharine House Hospice.
