The Hong Kong Revealed project for HKTB, Cathay Pacific and Travel 2 wins the Silver Screen Award at the 2010 US International Film and Video Festival.
The campaign demonstrated a complete ‘Online Production’ to scoop the award, including a TV show, a competition website, a national search for 3 star presenters, videos on youtube, tweets from the shoot as it happened, blogging directly to the Travel Trade Gazzette, and a swanky launch at an exclusive West End cinema.
The 2010 US International Film and Video Festival attracted entries from 25 countries.

I am proud to announce we have won two awards at the 2009/10 Midlands Communicators in Business Awards.
Last year we were class winner in both the video and electronic media (web design) categories. This year we received an award of excellence and another class winer in the same categories.
Two of our projects have made the CiB Awards shortlist, adding to our very long list of awards for creative video and digital media projects.
The CiB Central Awards set out to recognise, reward and celebrate the best communications work in the region, and we are delighted to have two shortlisted entries.

iceni delivered a complete PR, internal communications and marketing campaign that included a dedicated website, designed and produced by the iceni web and digital design team, and a series of travelogue style TV programmes, filmed on location in and around Hong Kong.
Making a Difference for Children in Care is a training resource for teachers, tutors, mentors, foster carers, and support staff. The film explores the challenges looked after children face, and the agencies that are there to help them.

The clip features Birmingham poet laureate, Dreadlockalien, reciting a poem called ‘Well Done.’
The ‘Hong Kong Revealed’ campaign covers all aspects of e-communications, using high definition film and video, photography, online, social media, blogging, and print to raise awareness and promote the destination to the travel trade.
Cathy Bentley, Managing Director at iceni adds, “Hong Kong Revealed is a complete 360 degree PR and marketing campaign. It started with print adverts to search for stars for the film, included a broadcast television programme, a campaign web page with streaming video, an email ‘blast’ to drive visitors to the website, and design and print for mail out DVDs of the programme. The campaign even made good use of video sharing and social networking websites like YouTube, twitter, and facebook to get the programme to the target audience.”
The campaign started with print advertising, inviting people to enter a competition to win the opportunity to star in their own TV show.
The competition winners were flown to Hong Kong for a 5 star luxury trip, spending 4 days in one of the world’s top destinations.
The iceni crew filmed the whole ‘FAM’ trip and captured the excitement of the destination in a series of fast paced films.
Back in the UK, the second part of the campaign launched with an email ‘blast’ to drive visitors to a competition microsite which features the Hong Kong videos.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) selected iceni® to produce a sponsored TV programme promoting Hong Kong as a holiday destination.
Midlands and London based communications company iceni® was selected to produce the programme on the strength of its portfolio of travel incentive, destination, documentary and promotional films. Since 2001 the company has filmed over 50 international destinations, and received recognition from the New York Film Festival and the US International Film and Video Festival for their travel programmes.
HKTB launched a national competition to find 3 amateur presenters to travel with the iceni® production team and star in their own documentary film.
The resulting TV programme, Hong Kong Revealed, also sponsored by Cathay Pacific and Travel 2, was launched at a private screening at the Soho Hotel in London.
The programme can be seen on the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s YouTube page, and on its own dedicated microsite, designed and produced by the iceni® web and digital design team.
Swanky private cinema at London’s Charlotte Street Hotel is the location for the first of last week’s launch parties.
Hong Kong Revealed is now available on DVD and You Tube for travel industry professionals. The film is presented by 3 travel agents and features a rough guide to this amazing city.

In a strange twist, this innovative sales incentive meant that spending time with the iceni team was the reward. Or maybe it was the luxury trip to one of the world’s top destinations, to stay in one of the world’s top hotels and star in a film produced by iceni. Whichever way you look at it, the result is a great programme, a competition website, and a campaign that will get talked about for a long time to come.

Reports of exploring the spiritual side of Hong Kong, including Tai Chi on the waterfront and monks in the mountains, all sound very glamorous. This, coupled with the long hours of hard work, and the stunning scenery should make for a great film.
